Akume, Walson-Jack to Open Leadership Training for CEOs of Federal Agencies at ASCON

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, will jointly declare open the Mandatory Training Programme (MTP) for newly appointed Chief Executive Officers of Federal Parastatals and Agencies.

The programme is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo-Badagry, Lagos State.

According to a statement by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), the presence of both top government officials highlights the Presidency’s commitment to strengthening leadership alignment across the public service in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Organised by the OHCSF and implemented through ASCON, the training serves as a structured onboarding and leadership development platform designed to familiarise newly appointed CEOs with the values, ethics, and operational principles of the Nigerian public service.

Modules will cover the 1999 Constitution (as amended), Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations, Corporate Governance, Accountability, Ethics, Stakeholder Management, and the Performance Management System (PMS) anchored on Ministerial Deliverables and tracked by the Central Results and Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU) under the OSGF.

The programme also reinforces the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25), which provides the framework for civil service reforms through capability building, digitalisation, performance management, and culture change.

The joint attendance of the SGF and HCSF, the statement noted, underscores the synergy between policy coordination and administrative leadership within the Presidency. It reflects the Federal Government’s determination to institutionalise leadership capacity development, promote ethical governance, and enhance performance across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The MTP, the statement added, reaffirms the Administration’s commitment to building a results-driven, accountable, and professional public service capable of advancing national transformation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
