The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, on Monday unveiled the Civil Service Newspaper and reintroduced the Service Welfare Newsletter during an event in Abuja to mark her first 100 days in office.
These initiatives, alongside other reforms, are part of her vision to transform the civil service into a more professional and globally competitive institution.
Speaking at the event themed Marching to Greatness, Walson-Jack emphasized her administration’s commitment to implementing the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (2021–2025).
She stated that her reforms aim to ensure civil servants possess the requisite skills, knowledge, and competence to deliver quality services while upholding principles of integrity and accountability.
“The unveiling of the Civil Service Newspaper, published by First Media Network, and the reintroduction of the Service Welfare Newsletter are critical steps in fostering transparency, communication, and employee welfare,” she said.
“These publications will serve as tools for knowledge sharing and creating a more cohesive and motivated workforce.”
The HCSF also highlighted the establishment of seven “war rooms” dedicated to overseeing the six pillars of the reform strategy and their enablers. She introduced the Performance Management System (PMS), which includes PMS Day for evaluating staff performance and aligning it with strategic goals, as well as initiatives like the Federal Civil Service Anthem and Culture Change Video to promote a renewed sense of pride and purpose in service.
In her remarks, Walson-Jack thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support, particularly for approving the new minimum wage and consequential salary adjustments for civil servants.
She commended the cooperation of stakeholders, including the National Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, which enabled swift negotiation and implementation of the adjustments.
Permanent Secretary Common Services Office, Mr. Raymond Omachi, praised Walson-Jack’s clear-headed leadership, describing the milestones achieved within her first 100 days as extraordinary.
A special documentary, Marching to Greatness, was also presented, showcasing the transformative strides made under her leadership.
